We are back from a whirlwind trip to India.. Well, not exactly whirlwind, but it felt like that with a super-clingy toddler in tow. 3 weeks and two cities – Bombay and Delhi. N’s first visit ever. My first time of splitting my time equally between the parents and IL. Too short.
My brother and sister visited Bombay too, at the same time and we had a reunion in India, after years. Endless chatter, streams of piping hot chai and coffee, gorging on all kinds of food – it was a wonderful holiday. We even had two days of torrential rain, Mumbai style, thanks to a cyclonic depression off the Arabian sea. Another excuse to eat more food, of course – bhajias, vadas and even more hot chai.
Total bliss except that I had a little shadow following me ALL over the house, at all times even waiting outside the bathroom door while I was having a bath. Ahhhh. And here I had dreamed of depositing her in my mother’s and sister’s arms and gallivanting around town. Sadly, that did not happen. And so the shopping list remained unattended to. Meeting friends did not happen.Me-time did not happen.
Yet I had a total blast. So what if I need another holiday to recover from this one.
